20/20 Sisters of Vision recently provided grants to two women, Black-owned, small businesses in recognition of Black Philanthropy Month and Black Business Month. The recognitions take place during place the month of August. A $500.00 grant was made to Kimberly Thigpin, owner of The Bath Place. Staff at Wake Tech Community College Entrepreneurial Support Program recommended Kimberly, who is currently enrolled in their program. Kimberly is also receiving support from the Alliance of Downtown Raleigh to help promote The Bath Place in Raleigh. The Bath Place main store, which opened in 2012, is located in Rocky Mount. A pop-up shop is currently located at 17 E. Martin Street in Raleigh. The shop offers natural soaps, candles, oils and other spa-quality bath products.

When deciding on which businesses to recognize, 20/20 members could not overlook the small, black-owned business it has worked with for the past several years, Bourne to Film, owned by Aniya Bourne. Aniya, who provides photography, videography, website support and content management, received a $250 grant. In addition to working with 20/20 Sisters of Vision, Aniya currently also works with Urban Community AgriNomics (UCAN), Merrick-Moore Community Development Corporation (MMCDC) and Empowered Parents in the Community (EPiC).

Both Kimberly and Aniya expressed appreciation for the grants and more importantly, for 20/20 Sisters of Vision recognition of their businesses and the hard work they’ve put into building those business.
