Jereann King Johnson, Heritage Quilting Circle of Warren and Vance Counties, stands in front of the quilt she designed and quilted for 20/20 Sisters of Vision 20/24 fundraiser raffle. She said that she starts 20/20’s fundraiser quilts by experimenting with ideas she has in her head and then moves on to patterns, colors and fabrics. The 2024 quilt is called “Big Mama’s Flower Garden”, based on the traditional “Grandma’s Flower Garden” pattern, located in the center of the quilt.  Designed around hexagons, flowers and dragon flies, the quilt grew in size as new ideas grew through the quilting process. Jearean stated she named the quilt, Big Mama’s Flower Garden”, as opposed to “Grandma’s Flower Garden”  because of the large size of the hexagons.” She concluded that she loves the entire quilt, but is particularly fond of the contrasting binding and border.
